| Letter Signed by Alexander on August 3,1801. A letter written less than five months after Alexander's succession to the throne. The letter is in French with a black border demonstrating mourning for his father Paul who was overthrown by a coup of officers and nobles possibly with Alexander's collusion. The letter is written to General Clarke ,Minister of War for Napoleon in response to a communication written to Alexander's father concerning certain drawings of French military uniforms. |
